Phase I Demolition

Phase I - Fume Hood Removal
- SCS has one small server room with 8 tons of cooling and 150 hot processors!
- NCSA decommissions Origin 2000 Supercomputers used by SCS faculty for Quantum Dynamics, Molecular Dynamics, and Molecular Discovery
- SCS acquires 4X128 processor machines
- Donation of the NCSA Origin 2000s is the catalyst to build the SCS HPCC
January 2004: Planning
- 2000 square feet total
- Build in at least 3 phases
- Available power, age of building are limiting factors
March 2004: Phase I Construction Begins
- Demolition of existing wet lab
- 1000 square feet
- 20 ton CRAC installed
