SCS User's Guide

To login in to your SCS UNIX account, you can SSH or telnet to polaris.scs.uiuc.edu and log in with your username and password. SSH is strongly prefered to telnet, because it maintains the security of you passwords and account information. In addition, at some point in the near future, all telnet access to SCS systems is going to be shut off and SSH will be the only login option, so it is best to get in the habit of using it from the start.
